How to – Install anaconda in Ubuntu

Python programming is now in trend, because of it’s rich library and functionalities.Every python developer is very much aware about Anaconda distribution. For those who are unaware about Anaconda framework, It is an open source distribution for python and R programming.To install anaconda in to Ubuntu (18.04 & 20.04 LTS) based OS is an easy task if you would able to find out the step-to-step solutions for it.

Here I am sharing the complete installation guide about how to install anaconda in Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.00

Important : Before following any steps. Please check the version of your python using following command.

$ python –version

Step 1: Update your system with the following command.
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade

Step 2: Find out the operating system bits with the following command.
$ uname -a

Note: If above command shows  “x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux” that means you are using 64 bit OS, otherwise it will shows 32 bit.

Step 3: Go to and select the appropriate python version of your system.

Step 4: Use the following command to run the downloaded anaconda script.

$ ./ 

Step 5:  Follow the process and select “yes” option every time when asked.

Step 6: After the successful installation you will be able to open anaconda navigator using following command.(open your terminal and type)

$ anaconda-navigator

wait for some time, You will seen anaconda symbol on your screen.

Step 7: Please select any type of notebook from anaconda navigator and you will be then redirected to localhost with the help of any browsing windows.

Note:  Anaconda navigator by default running on port 8888.
